Talking with IBOs at Achievers

Posted by Steve Cole on Tuesday, December 11, 2007

This was the very first Achievers I have ever attended.  It has been an experience I will certainly not forget.  It isn't because of the weather either...although going from sub freezing temperatures in Grand Rapids Michigan to 80's in Fort Lauderdale Florida is certainly memorable, what I am talking about is the opportunity to meet and talk to IBOs.

I worked at the eBusiness booth for Session 4 of the Expo.  This was the area to talk about the websites.  Not a surprise it may be filled with IT people, eh?  We spoke with hundreds of IBOs about what they thought of the websites.  We received a lot of positive feedback on the new changes to Quixtar.com and a lot of feedback on things we still need to do better.  It is good to hear affirmation that as a whole we are making positive changes for the websites, but it is equally, if not more important to keep getting feedback on what we can still do better that would help the IBOs businesses.

Learning more about how IBOs use the website, or would like to use the website is key.  An important factor is to understanding more about IBOs day to day or week to week activities.  What may be a minor amount of work for us to put in the website could save an IBO hours of work each week.  A new web report or a small feature change for example can have a huge impact.  That is one of the reasons why communicating with IBOs at events like Achievers and these blogs are so important.  Face to face and off line communication needs to continue all year long for us to make this the best business it can possibly be.

Yes I will miss the warm weather, but the passionate conversations with IBOs about the websites mean a whole lot more!

I am glad you gathered a lot of info while at Achievers. You have probably heard this already, but could you consider making the Personal Websites more like the Quixtar main website. We could have one URL for people to go to and have all the features of the Quixtar site. Their could be rotating main screen images, Customers could access things like Partner stores. That way we could highlight all the main brand groups.

Thanks!

when you look at the quixtar website in customer view , you still cannot go all the way to the checkout page where the final price is available with tax and shipping and everything.

maybe that could be a change on the quixtar website, so i can see the final all inclusive price as a customer would see it, so i can tell customers how much things cost (without having to work it out myself).

and that idea about our personal websites looking more like quixtar's wesite is awesome! i especially like the concept of having a link to partner stores on the personal websites.

Yeah what Dwight said. I would specifically like to see that as well as person sites for the B2B Line specifically. All of the B2B Products especially the agriculture products.

This one bit my wife the other day.  When you are filling your cart, it would be nice to know what dollar value of stuff counts towards the $750 free shipping.  She ordered over $800 worth of stuff, got charged for shipping, and then couldn't figure out what was going on.  Things with a pre-determined shipping cost (toilet paper), personal accents, and ribbon albums don't count towards the total cost for free shipping.  Obviously the system knows what that number is - be nice if we did too.

Achievers rocked.  Big time.  The best ever.

Bill, Thank you for commenting on the problems. Since the $750 free shipping promotion went into effect, some limitations were discovered in our systems that are causing the types of problems you described. There are several people actively working on solving the problems, but unfortunately it will take some time to resolve the issues.

Until it is resolved, I would recommend calling customer service "soon" after placing an order that runs into this problem. They should be able to help. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Steve,

I'm glad to see that you are actively trying to improve everything.  I would like to re-affirm the thoughts on the personal Quixtar site that have been previously mentioned.  I would like to add that I do not really see them as personal sites, but as template sites, since that's exactly what they are.  There is very minimal personalization that is done.

I would like to see a Quixtar API made available for those of us that are technically inclined and would like to spend more time on truly personalizing our site.  In the meantime, I would settle for CMS style custom pages, and manipulatable menus.  Maybe even the ability to customize a logo for our site.

Anyway, I do realize that the API is more technical, but the rest is within reason, I believe.  I'm curious how many others would be interested in the same things.
