Your Feedback on the Experience

Posted by Brett Folkert on Wednesday, February 13, 2008

So the redesigned Quixtar.com site has been up for roughly four months now.  By this time hopefully you've gotten accustomed to the new look and feel, the layout changes and to the new UI (user interface) as a whole.  As we move deeper into 2008 we'd love to hear your thoughts, good and bad, on the new design. Is it easier to use?  Do you like it aesthetically?  Is it helping improve your business?

This kind of feedback assists us in providing the best possible user experience.  And if 2008 is anything like last year we will be designing plenty of new pages (if not entire sites) that could benefit from such feedback. We'd love to hear from you.

I love the aesthetics of the new site. It definitely moves us in the right direction. I think the rotating ads are great! And, after a bit of roaming, I can find everything at least as easily as before, if not easier. I did have a suggestion... When we are logged into the site and our timeout occurs, could we be redirected back to the login screen, instead of the front page? It saves a few clicks, but more importantly a few page loads. Also, I am looking forward to the upgrades to the personal sites! You guys do a great job! Keep it up!

The style of the site if fine. Looks nice. The more open access without an IBO is a big question. Even if a customer does sign up, customer's can't see their IBO contact info anyway. The LOS info is not available, but you would think a customer should be able to see their IBO. The site does nothing to help connect IBO's and customers. I noticed the Feb. Achieve is not linked, just the January Achieve. The feb. .pdf file is there, you just have to manually type it in. None of the news about new projects, etc. shows up for customers automatically. I haven't seen many bugs, so the code must me good. The Rules of Conduct are not always easy to find, but show up quickly with a search in either customer or IBO mode. With current discussion, I would think you would make the Rules easier to find for customers. I would still like the Login/register link to be bigger, and the Quixtar logo to remain. I don't want it to change to the Quixtar/Amway logo. (Of course, we all think moving back to Amway as a name violates your own rules of conduct. Unless required by law, Changes in the plan, etc. have to be approved by the board. Since 1/3 of them were tossed, maybe that isn't a problem anymore.

I like it. It looks very contemporary and is very easy to navigate and use. I think it just needs some tweaking, like the LOS page should be an option as to whether to open with just the personally sponsored or the entire LOS. I prefer the entire LOS. I also think that when the customer logs on, their IBO contact info should be right under the "Hello, Mr. and Mr. Customer." It could be something like: "Your A/Q Independent Business Owner is Harry and Mary Distributor, Phone: 111-222-3456, e-Mail: harryandmary@warmmail.com." The phone number could, of course, be their voice mail number or their home phone number, whatever the IBO wants there. I think having IBO contact info on the site (as well as the personal retail sites) is absolutely critical. For the IBOs that don't want it there, it could be made optional.

Brett, You guys have done a great facelift to the site. The overall sophistication, UI, Navigation, Dashboard/information Content, Response Times have been significantly improved. So Kudos to your team !!. As a Security Architect I am also working (just getting started) on some Enterprise Architecture projects based on SOA, MessageBus, .NET, Zachman/OPEN Frameworks. I will definitely provide more feedback as they come to my mnd. Thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge and service in such a productive manner helping thousands of IBOs all across the USA.

Thanks again for all the great feedback.  I am forwarding this on to our UX (user experience) team. It's this kind of feedback that helps us do an even better job in the future.  As I've told many clients over the years, it isn't the opinion of the techies that matters, it's the opinion of the end users.

Utah,

I appreciate your thoughtful concerns on the name/logo change, but we in IT have nothing to do with that decision.  I would suggest talking to your upline or commenting on one of the more business oriented blogs here in the Opportunity Zone. Thanks again.

I love the site. My only suggestion would have to be the Login/Register. It's very small in the upper right hand corner. I'd like that to be more prominent. And then when you go to the page, there's a lot of different places to enter information. Customers get confused when they see the IBO registration right under the Customer Registration. Instead of having two places that say 'BEGIN REGISTRATION', one could clarify 'BEGIN CUSTOMER REGISTRATION' and the other could say 'BEGIN IBO REGISTRATION'.

Fantastic site design, I truly enjoy the simplicity of the new UI. I do agree with the login/register confusion. I have encountered few events, where the site is not responding. I'm using Mac computers (mainly Safari), maybe that's that. Maybe it is the traffic, either way I have been frustrated few times over site page loading and freezing, especially while registering IBOs and clients. Today, however, we have used PC and everything was a beauty. Either case, thanks so much for a great design, simplicity and ease of navigation on the site. Thanks, Luke.

The site looks great!

I had a couple points of feedback.  The first is in the printing of invoices in the "Customer Sales Activity and Receipt" area.  We used to be able to print out nicely formated invoices from here but now they aren't formatted in a clean way.  I also noticed this with printing off invoices from viewing a past order... is there some way to make a printer friendly version?

The other part stems from an earlier conversation in the "A Touch of Irony A Touch of Vindication" post.  The following was a feed back you gave me on October 29th for a previous question:

"George, to answer your other concern about the ease of signing up customers and making sure you get credit, we are in fact cutting code on a fix for that this very week. Basically you will be able to give your customers a Url to our site(s) with your information embedded that will automatically credit you if the customer makes a purchase, even if they never login or register. I am waiting to post the full details until the code passes testing but it will definitely be in place by launch of the new site."

Any status update on if and when this will be implemented?

Thanks for your time!  George

George,

Thanks again for the feedback. Unfortunately I still have no further information to pass along at this time on the visitor referral enhancement.  The code is pretty much ready but we're in a holding pattern awaiting authorization to announce the change and release it. As soon as I get more information I'll pass it along.  I'm sorry I can't give you a better update at this time.

hi Brett,

It's been a while since I've posted. Just wanted to  know if there's any update on the "visitor referral enhancement"?

*Admin note: Brett has been on medical leave, he will be returning soon.

About Brett Folkert

Occuption
I am a Software Architect at Quixtar. The nature of my job and our environment means I have to be fluent in many disparate technologies on a daily basis. I like to think of it as "controlled chaos". I constantly strive to improve our architecture and ensure that wherever possible the underlying technology is transparent to our users. You probably won't notice my handiwork unless you look at the system design, but behind the scenes a lot of thought and hard work goes into making the site perform to our standards.

Background
My IT experience prior to Quixtar was primarily in consulting. I have worked with the U.S. Navy, dotcom startups and Fortune 500 companies. I consulted for Amway in years past (technical lead on GBISLink) before joining the team here at Quixtar. I hold both Master's and Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science. My thesis on neural networking/satellite imagery was published in the International Journal of Remote Sensing.

Interests
I have passions for wine, mountain biking and ancient history. If you want to discuss Cicero over a fine Bordeaux, look no further. I'm also married with two precocious daughters whom I adore. As if work and family weren't enough to keep me busy, I'm also attending law school in the evening.
